Bought it in Sept. it failed and I was 3 days late to get the free re-test in 90 days..The truck sat in an impound yard for , I’m guessing, at least 2 years. So far, I’ve replaced all vac. lines, EGR valveplugs, wires, dist. cap, most of the smog check valves,(oh yeah, it’s carbed 2bbl motorcraft, w/out points-302 2wd V-8), new smog pump hose and by-pass valve and the metal tube going down from that hose to the back(intake, I think), new catalytic converter, air cleaner, fuel filters, fuel pump, alternator, battery,all radiator hoses, thermostat, gas cap, fuel cannister,manifold vac. tower, that little thing that clips on to the inside of the air-cleaner cover, ..timing is at 8 beforeTDC- I tweaked air/fuel and Idle for days till it runs sweet, but just to be safe should I turn idle up or down, air-fuel lean or rich, timing adv. or retarded, etc. Does that guaranteed to pass stuff work? Stuff a rag up there?I heard I should hot-rod it just before, then I heard it’s better to go cold

on a 1991 Toyota Corolla?

It has 292,000 miles on it now and still runs strong, so i don’t worry when i jump on it every now and then…

I’ve hot rodded this car a considerable amount of times within the last 10,000 miles…

Now i am wondering; when i turn it off, it shakes as i turn it off… like, different from normal i think…

I checked the spark plugs, and they are getting near burnt… the cams look good still… the air filter is clean…

when it idles, it’s a lil shaky…

What i’m wondering is if this is just signs of old age or what?

And if i haven’t thrown a rod, how would i know if i did for future reference…

as for the hot rodding, put it this way: i’ve raced a few cars… i like hittin it around corners… i like zoomin up the freeway ramp… other than that, not much more in the last 10,000

p.s… this is one of my parent’s cars that they are letting me drive; i’m only 17
also, the second spark plug from the front of the motor (front is on the left when facing it) was rough like it had a build up of something…

My dad says they are still ok, but i swear they need to be replaced…

What kind of spark plugs should i go with? it’s the 1.6L 4afe
No, it doesn’t run on after i turn it off… Just like, it’s rough when i shut it off.. like, it turns off normally, but kinda rough…

Hi, I’m working on our 2003 Chevrolet S10 Crew 4.2 Auto with the following problems, and would appreciate any good advice:

1. Hot air comes through vents on fan settings with temp set full cold.

2. Front end feels a little loose, I put a new steering box, pitman arm, trailing arm and tie rods on and had it aligned. It’s better, but still does it, just no where near as bad.
