What’s the best way to curl my hair?

admin December 14th, 2009

Rogue asked:

I’ve got really long hair, down to my butt, What is the best way to curl it? I’ve used curling Irons of various sizes and my hair just doesn’t seem to hold a curl. It’s not like I’ve got poker straight hair either, it’s naturally wavy. People have suggested hot rollers and those little bend rods(not sure of the name) but I don’t want to invest in something that’s just not going to work anyway. I also was wondering if there are any products that really work and might help out. Please help don’t tell me I’m doomed because of my long locks. :)
It’s not like my hair wont hold a curl it just seems like the extra few inches it grew are stubern and now it al falls out. I’ve tried the braiding thing and don’t really like the look I want more of a spiral look.

try wrap or setting lotion, spray in your hair and then roll it up… this will keep your hair curled for days…….. walmart, CVS, walgreens sells it…

it depends, if your hair is sraight hair is nice and straight like mine, I would try keeping those curl things in and sleep with them. Then, in the morning, take them out and see what your working with.

    - Before you go to bed, braid your hair. Do your left side of your head, then your right and make sure it’s tight and looks good. If you have thick hair, have four parts braided. Next morning, take it out and see if it works. It might not be good for your hair, but after a shower, do this but it looks really good the next morning, possibly…it does mine!
    - You can curl your beautiful straight hair at the ends to have a little curl if you like that.
    - Perm, you can get a perm and it’ll look fabulous!
    - find big curls to curl your long hair and have them in your hair for a long time.

If you don’t want to do any of these, maybe cut your hair…your hair is too long. If you cut it to your shoulder and give 10 inches to people that don’t have hair, you’ll fell good and it’ll totally be easier while other people have some hair. Then your curls will be pretty possibly and look better.

    Good luck!

unfortunately, the weight of your hair is going to pull out most of your curl.
your best bet..and it is not guarantee and will also probalby not hold really long is to use a pre-curling holding type product. i personally use mousse, but there are specific products for curling.
yes, use the hot rollers instead of a curling iron.. they seem to do the trick better.
then you will have to coat with some serious holding spray.. i mean serious.
like i said.. you still won’t really get a great curl that will last all day, but this might work for a night out on an occasion.

if you’re really interested in a curl perhaps look into a perm?? it’s semi-permanent and will hold much better in long hair.

First, I would go to a beautician & see what they suggest–maybe they can put some kind of curl solution on ur hair (like a permanent). I have heard that those curling rods do work–just leave them in overnight.

i thing nothing’s gonna help you because your hair is long, and usually when it’s long it’s heavy so the curls just go away…

here are some suggestions, i havent tried some of them, but i ve heard that they work-
    curl with iron or rollers
put some hairspray in ur hair before going to bed and the tossing and moving will create random waves
braid ur hair and when u remove it there will be waves
put some defining product in ur hair and keep twirling it around ur finger. then, finger comb gently through to separate the waves
use sea salt spray. sea salt will give really pretty beach waves
    scruch it with gel
    good luck!
also, if u decide to layer your hair, the curls end in different places and make it seem more curly and wavy

go to the salon and ask for a shampoo and roller set

A good salon should also be able to help you purchase the proper type and size of rollers for your hair and setting lotion to use when curling your hair
